An Ode to May

Just before the days threaten with scorching heat on concrete and asphalt,

and bare arms glisten from tiny pools gathering in revolt

from a shock to the system,

May comes.

A break from the frigidity of months past,

a light breeze on the back of your ear

and rays that bring a sweet smile to your face.

The makings of unlayering;

doing away with socks and in their stead

come sandals, tank tops and flowing skirts

ushering in the Summer season and making space

for more meet and greets in the street.

If April showers bring May flowers,

each flower brung gives charge to the coming Sun.

(And for this, we give thanks.)
