Settling into a new rhythm and routine can be tricky without the right tools. While essential oils don't necessarily clean the house and meet that deadline for you, they can ease the process along with just a few drops.
According to the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA), aromatherapy can be defined as "the art and science of utilising naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants to balance, harmonise and promote the health of the body, mind and spirit."
If you've been caught in the whirlwind of life lately, perhaps this might help.
Whether you decide to take the topical route or experiment through inhalation, as essential oils are at high concentration, they aren't advised for use without a carrier oil (such as coconut, olive, jojoba or almond), or being diluted with water.
My favourite method is diffusion - made easy with various wall plug-in options (from doTerra, ArtNaturals etc), or a simple ceramic contraption powered by the mighty tea-light candle.
To bring more balance to your home, try one (or all!) of these oils and bask in their numerous benefits:
Rosemary: a memory booster and focus fixer, this oil is perfect for those long hours of homework with the littles, or work brought home.
Lemongrass: keep your kitchen and bathroom citrusy sweet with this natural deodoriser and bug repellant.
Lavender: known for its calming properties, a little lavender in the bedroom helps reduce stress and promotes restful sleep.
Of course, essential oils aren’t the only way to get your aromatherapy fix. Step outside and you’ll notice a world of scent waiting to be freshly picked from the garden - flowers, fruit and herbs alike.
